Bridging studio-grade craft with AI-native and AI-hybrid production

Wayan Palmieri is an editor and post-production architect based in Los Angeles, bridging studio-grade craft with AI-native and AI-hybrid production. Raised on the island of Bali, he has built a global career spanning Asia, Europe, Brazil, and the United States. He spent roughly ten years in-house at Marvel Studios — contributing editorial support across 25 feature films, 2 TV shows, and more than 50 trailers — before turning the same craft toward generative film, mixed reality, and AI-native and AI-hybrid production at scale.

As SVP, Head of Production at Kartel (Kartel AI Inc. / Kartel Studio LLC), he led production end-to-end across the company’s slate: managing enterprise accounts (Netflix, Fox Entertainment, Warner Music Group, Newell Brands, Vidmob) and DTC/retail brands (Lidl, Coleman, Contigo, Bubba), authoring the production SOP that ran every engagement, building internal pipeline tooling, hiring and directing AI artist teams, and developing tiered model-selection strategies across a wide range of image and video tools.

In parallel he works as an independent director and AI artist — generative music videos and short films for Justice, Bambaata (fka Bam Marley), MAGIC!, and original work — and editorial credits include “What If…? An Immersive Story” for Apple Vision Pro (Marvel Studios × Apple, dir. Dave Bushore). He is a member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild, Local 700.

The craft runs in the family. Wayan’s great-grandfather, Johannes “Hans” Bartholowsky, was a master matte painter during Hollywood’s Golden Era — known for his glass painting and set design work. That lineage of classical craftsmanship, paired now with cutting-edge tools, shapes how Wayan approaches every frame.
